Geotechnical
drilling can be generally subdivided into two major areas: test borings
aimed at retrieving soil, rock and other material samples in order to
evaluate the physical properties and determine the structure of the
penetrated matter for geotechnical engineering design; and
instrumentation borings conducted as a test borings as well but mainly
for the purpose of installing geotechnical instruments.
GeoTek Engineering,
Inc. routinely conducts soil and bedrock test borings for major bridge
and highway projects in New England as well as for small private
foundation design jobs. Bedrock coring and undisturbed sampling are
widely used on the projects. At the same time we are specializing in and
extremely well tooled up for very special test borings where artificial
man-made components are to be tested and sampled such as concrete,
slurry and soil-cement mix. GeoTek Engineering, Inc. conducted over
20,000 LF of soil cement coring for the biggest soil stabilization
program on CA/T Project in Boston. We own top of the art coring tools
and mastered an expertise level, which allows receiving maximum possible
recovery of the cores. GeoTek Engineering, Inc. also specializes in
conducting test borings in limited access and overhead spaces.
Geotechnical drilling is reported with boring logs done in accordance
with the Burmister or modified Burmister system by our staff geologists.
GeoTek
Engineering, Inc. is the leading firm in New England in the area of
geotechnical instrumentation. We are the subcontractor of choice for all
construction firms on CA/T project in Boston for installation of
complicated geotechnical instrumentation systems designed for the
project. GeoTek specializes in installation of all types of geotechnical
instrumentation (monitoring wells, VW piezometers, stand-pipe
piezometers, inclinometers, probe extensometers, MPBX's, heave gages,
etc.). |
